This paper is a result of a long-ish journey that the Lord has taken me into covenanting, and what it represents.  Some of my views on covenants are inferred, others are taken directly from the Biblical text.  Clearly Jesus is doing something when He says in Matthew 26:28 – “This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins”.  

I find myself with an odd fascination for the various arguments that occur between Christians and atheists around the existence of God.  This is partly because I think the arguments might be more constructive if both sides were a little more determined to discover where their differences lie.  But also because the nature of the debate doesn’t seem ever to address something I find perhaps more important and compelling than any of these arguments. 

This short paper is the second of three about the critical elements of being under covenant with the Lord.  It is about individuals, but I want to start with organizational behaviour to make a point that hopefully everyone will understand!

Organisations do way too much planning.  There, I’ve said it.  I have a feeling this will not go down well, but hear me out…

One of the ideas that’s hard to shake when you’ve seen it is the repeated goat references in the Bible.  Is there something going on?  There is, and importantly it relates to an idea that has general importance in our faith.

In this paper, I want to address some important questions about what God is seeking to achieve with all of us.  I hope this will provide you with encouragement but also some resolution to a few difficult questions that we often face.  I have found that, when I’ve explained this to people, it has given them encouragement and resolved some things that have become real obstacles.  Hence why I’ve written it down.  More on that later. 

This paper is the third of three discussing the attributes and expectations of being under covenant with our Lord.  It is fairly dense, scripturally.  But there are few more important recurring themes in the Bible and therefore understanding it is critical. 

It is an unfortunate consequence of covenanting that you will inevitably attract the attention of the enemy.  There is nothing you can do about that – the enemy dislikes people being in covenant with the Lord.  What this means is you need to give some attention to how you are most likely to be attacked, and to deal with those things as far as you are able.
